Biotechnology Master's and PhD Program
From biological discovery to research, technology, and innovation.
Biotechnology brings together biology, genetics, engineering, and emerging technologies to develop new approaches to challenges in health, agriculture, food, and the environment.
Yeditepe University's graduate programs in Biotechnology provide an interdisciplinary environment for students who want to advance from fundamental biological knowledge to independent scientific research. The Master's Program was established in 2007, followed by the PhD Program in 2011.
Both programs emphasize research and development, scientific problem-solving, interdisciplinary collaboration, and cooperation between universities, research institutes, technoparks, and industry.
Advanced interdisciplinary training combined with graduate research and thesis work.
Advanced research training aimed at developing independent researchers in biotechnology.
Why Biotechnology?
Biotechnology connects biological discovery with technological development. Understanding biological systems at the molecular and cellular level can contribute to new research strategies, processes, and applications across multiple sectors.
Health and medicine: Biotechnology provides molecular and cellular tools for biomedical research and the development of new approaches to human health.
Genetics and biological systems: Modern biotechnology allows researchers to study, analyse, and manipulate biological information at increasingly detailed levels.
Agriculture and food: Biological technologies can contribute to innovation in agricultural systems, food production, and related research.
Environment: Biological systems and processes can be studied and applied to environmental challenges and sustainable technologies.
Research and innovation: Biotechnology naturally connects academic research with R&D, technoparks, research institutes, and industry.
The field combines fundamental science with the possibility of translating biological knowledge into practical applications.
What Will You Develop?
Scientific and quantitative thinking: Apply concepts from mathematics, natural sciences, statistics, and engineering to biotechnology-related questions.
Biological system design: Develop the ability to approach biological systems, processes, and products according to defined scientific requirements.
Research problem-solving: Identify and address biotechnology and bioengineering problems using contemporary scientific, technical, and computational tools.
Interdisciplinary research: Work effectively across different scientific disciplines and contribute to collaborative research environments.
Scientific communication: Present ideas, findings, and research effectively in academic and professional environments.
Research ethics and responsibility: Develop awareness of professional ethics, social responsibility, and the broader societal implications of biotechnology.
